Privacy Policy

VibeRVA is a free, local events guide for Richmond, Virginia. You can browse everything without an account. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

What we collect

Account info — if you create an account: your email, first and last name, and an optional profile (username, ZIP, phone) you choose to add.
Approximate location — only if you grant browser location permission, and only to sort events by distance. We don’t store your coordinates on our servers.
Your saved events — the events you pin, tied to your account.
Submissions — anything you send via “Post Your Event” or “Contact Us” (including the name/email you provide there).
Basic technical data — standard server logs (e.g., IP, browser) from our hosting provider, used for security and reliability.

How we use it

To show events, sort them by distance, and save your pins.
To review submitted events and respond to messages.
To operate, secure, and improve the app.

We do not sell your personal data, and we don’t run third-party advertising trackers.

Service providers

Supabase — database, authentication, and hosting of app data.
Mapbox — renders maps on event pages.
Google Calendar — only if you choose to connect it, to add events to your calendar. You can disconnect anytime from your profile.
Google Analytics — aggregate usage measurement (pages viewed, rough region, device type) so we can see what’s useful. Google processes this data; you can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
Event listings link out to their original sources (e.g., Ticketmaster, venue and organization websites), which have their own privacy policies.

Cookies & local storage

We use local storage / cookies for essentials (keeping you signed in, remembering your filters) and for privacy-respecting analytics via Google Analytics (see Service Providers). We don’t use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Your Virginia (VCDPA) rights

If you’re a Virginia resident, you have the right to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your personal data, and to opt out of any sale or targeted advertising (we do neither). To exercise these rights, reach us through the Contact page. We’ll respond within the timeframe the law requires, and you may appeal a decision.

Data retention

We keep account data while your account is active. You can request deletion anytime via the Contact page, and we’ll remove your account data.

Children

VibeRVA isn’t directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We’ll update this page if our practices change, and revise the “last updated” date above.
